Mauldin Memorial Day Ceremony set for May 31st

The City of Mauldin will hold its Memorial Day Ceremony on May 31st at the Veterans War Memorial on the campus of the Cultural Center at E. Butler Rd.

The solemn event will begin at 11 AM with Mayor Terry Merritt, an Air Force veteran, welcoming and providing introductions. The colors will be presented by the Mauldin High School Junior ROTC and the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Mauldin Fire Department engineer, Brandon Cromer. Mauldin Fire Department, Sgt. Robert Thacker an Army veteran, will offer an invocation.

After the national anthem, the Mayor will share his thoughts with “My Tribute for Memorial Day”. A recording of God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood will lead into a prayer for veterans. Scott McCrary, Air Force veteran, will play TAPS and the Mauldin High School Junior ROTC will retire the colors.

The traditional recessional to the Veteran’s War Memorials on Veterans Walkway will begin where guests will be able to greet Veterans at the memorial.■
