Dr. Patricia Hill Commended for Commitment to Veterinary Profession
Aiken, SC (Jan. 8, 2021) – The Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association (IVPA), the first nonprofit association dedicated to uniting independently owned and operated veterinary practices, today announced the appointment of one of its board members to the Advisory Group of a new Commission. Patricia Hill, DVM, has been appointed by The American Veterinary Medical Association and The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges to the Advisory Group for the newly formed Commission for a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Veterinary Profession. In this new advisory role, Dr. Hill will support the work of the Commission to provide critical feedback, populate working groups, and generate creative ideas.
“I’m honored to serve on the advisory group for a Commission that has a very important job ahead of them…advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the veterinary profession,” stated Dr. Hill, owner of East North Veterinary Hospital in Greenville, S.C. and IVPA Co-Founder and Treasurer. “I look forward to collaborating with my peers on such important topics that will make a positive impact on our veterinary community.”
The Advisory Group will support the Commission’s mission to develop best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion through strategy, education, and measurement and drive change and accountability throughout the field.

About Dr. Patricia Hill
Dr. Hill is a North Carolina native who received her undergraduate degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University and her DVM from the University of Georgia (UGA). She owned Hillcrest Animal Hospital in Simpsonville, SC for 22 years before it was sold to an independent practitioner in 2013. She now owns East North Veterinary Hospital in Greenville, SC where she finds reward in the daily challenges and opportunities for growth she receives while helping fellow beings, both two-legged and four-legged. Dr. Hill has served as president of two local VMAs and the South Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and has held positions on the UGA Alumnae Board as well as the AVMA Animal Welfare Committee. She currently serves as Legislative Chair on the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians Foundation Board. Dr. Hill lives in Simpsonville, SC with her Doberman and Quarter Horse.■
