One of Fountain Inn’s most fun holiday events kicks off December 4th when a variety of gingerbread houses make their way to the Fountain Inn Museum for the annual Gingerbread House Competition. This year’s competition sports a hefty grand prize of $500.Announcement of the winners will be made by the sponsors at the Fountain Inn Tree Lighting ceremony on December 5th. From then until December 22nd, all entries will be on display at the Fountain Inn Museum. The competition is made possible by the generous support of sponsors Stacie Thompson of Remax Moves and Kendall Fox of the Prime Lenders Team McCall, Hanel & Fox. In addition, there are People’s Choice awards – winners chosen by popular vote.
The Museum’s current hours are Thursday and Friday from 1:00 PM -6:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM -2:00 PM. Hours will be extended during
This is the third year of the competition with entries increasing in creativity and complexity each year. All interested bakers are encouraged to call the Museum or check the website for contest rules and application forms. Entries will be accepted in either the adult or the student division, with the $500 grand prize awarded to one creation: winner-take-all. During the December display time, museum visitors may cast votes for their favorites. The People’s Choice Award votes are $1 each, and the voting will determine winners in both divisions. Proceeds go to the Museum, which never charges entry fees. Student and adult People’s Choice Award plaques will be presented December 22nd.
