Upstate Economic Outlook and Real Estate

Approximately two months ago I joined the Greenville Chamber. I had no idea how much I would learn and the level of insight that would be presented to me. I have found real value in the people I have met and the opportunities the Membership has provided.

Recently I was invited to attend one of the most amazing networking events I could ever imagine…Mid-Year Economic Outlook, presented by GSA Business Report. The amount of information I gained is absolutely invaluable. The expert panel included John Lummus, President and CEO for the Upstate SC Alliance; David Britt with Spartanburg County; Ward Russell “Rusty” Burns Administrator for Anderson County; and H.G. “Butch” Kirven Jr. representing our very own Greenville. These four men, along with a few other speakers, shed a different light on what is happening in the Upstate and how it is projected to affect us in the future.

Here are some tidbits that I gained form the event…

• The Leaders of the Upstate are not interested in companies that offer “dead end” jobs. We want businesses that offer growth and opportunity for the community.
• Technology and Efficiency are the most important. Thus companies that need very little to no space, such as cloud based businesses that don’t require brick and mortar.
• Current job rate growth is 2.8% per year and projected to increase.
• Leaders stated “We are not into digging ditches, we’re into building bridges.

Overall the Upstate looks to be in a huge growth pattern as we are constantly entertaining economic growth presented to us from all over the world. We have a 25 year manufacturing history, and the entire world knows it. Greenville and the Upstate are on the map. Eyes are on us as we soar into new levels of opportunity.

I tell you all of this, just to mention the underlined effect on our Real Estate market. People will continue to pour into the Upstate the position themselves for this pattern of growth and expansion. We can expect the sales market to remain hot, buyers to be plenty and new development to continue. We are still in need of new inventory every single day. If you, or someone you know, is considering selling for any reason…NOW IS STILL THE TIME!!!

Call me today and we can discuss your options. I look forward to hearing from you soon. ♦
