Rain Lilies

Zephyranthes candida, White Rain Lilies, bloom in late July and August. They are an easy to grow tropical plant in the Amaryllis family. Rain lilies look best planted at the front of a garden, along a path or in a rock garden. They seem to blossom after a rain and grow from 6 to 10 inches in full sun but tolerate light shade. The white rain lily grows into a large mass of white, star-shaped flowers.

Less vigorous growers are the pink rain lilies or Zephayranthes grandiflora. They bloom a bit earlier than the white rain lilies and the flowers are larger. Both rain lilies may also grow well in containers. ♦
