He joined the Army during the Vietnam War and after graduating from Vietnamese Language School, he was instrumental in helping the Vietnamese refugees as a translator. He then returned to Hampton and graduated from The College of William and Mary. He and his wife have two children, a boy and girl, as well as a grandson.

He retired from management with Wal-Mart after 23 years and then started his own Logistics Company doing consulting work for Wal-Mart. He has finally retired and now enjoys helping at the Senior Center and participating in the Elderberries Drama group.

He also enjoys cruising with his wife, playing golf, and doing projects around the house. Allen is always looking to try new things.♦
