Street Survival Tactics

Welcome back Street Survivors !!

Comradery is a wonderful thing, whether it’s family, co-workers or high-speed operators on a military spec ops team. Who’s your closest and best advisors and confidants ? That small group, your inner circle may stay the same during your entire life, or change slightly in different stages of your life. Sometimes separated by many miles, even continents or decades with no communication, the moment you link back up with your comrades in arms, you are transported back in time, pick up the same conversations, and continue the bond you created long ago.

On a recent trip to Ft. Bragg, NC with my wife, we experienced this exact phenomena. After 37 years my inner circle of Special Forces buddies flew in from around the country along with our wives who none of us had ever met. A lot grayer hair, an arthritic limp here and there, and more than one guy using a CPAP machine didn’t sour the reunion, and being transported back to the early 80’s and bringing our wives along for the walk thru the past was incredibly special!

Ft. Bragg itself has had a major facelift, our barracks and many of the buildings we knew so well had been torn down and replaced. Smoke Bomb Hill, where all the Green Beret Team Rooms were lined up has been replaced by an on base shopping center. Even the Green Beret Club where the 12 ounce curls took place between training and operations, has been featured on Bar Rescue, transformed into the Smoke Bomb Grille, with large wall tributes to the fallen members of the Regiment.

Morale of the story, nothing stays the same, but some things never, never change. Good luck figuring that one out. If you are fortunate enough to have this kind of a connection in your life, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Don’t be a victim…be a Street Survivor !

Rick ‘Pirate Hunter’ Grover strongly believes we’re all in this together, and the more we learn and train, the better we’ll be prepared for any eventuality. This makes all of us part of an amazing neighborhood team of American Patriots. God Bless America ! ♦
