Inn the Know

Shawn Bell, Fountain Inn City Administrator

Fountain Inn has a bright future and has a lot of assets that set us apart from our surrounding communities. However, without a doubt, two of our greatest treasures are our downtown and the special events we hold throughout the year. Vacancies in downtown are starting to become a thing of the past and we are announcing our 2018 Special Events Schedule!

Just right around the corner, we start the season off with “The Lucky 44 Celebration,” a St. Patrick’s Day event for the whole family! On March 17th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Commerce Park, join us for live music, a gold hunt, games, kid’s entertainment, food vendors, and face painting. Make sure to wear your best Leprechaun outfit to win a Lucky prize!

One of the top concerns/complaints I get from residents is regarding the litter on the side of our roads. When our Public Works crew takes time away from doing yard debris/leaf/garbage pickup and clean-up litter in an area, days later, the litter is usually as bad if not worse than it was before. If you have any suggestions as to how to solve this problem, please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, we have scheduled a Citywide Clean-Up Day for April 21st. Volunteers will meet at Commerce Park at 8:30 a.m. and we will provide everyone with everything they need to help get the City looking spotless! We are inviting individuals, families, HOA’s. churches, civic clubs, and more to get involved with this special day.

We are super excited to announce the 12th Annual Mac Arnold Cornbread and Collard Greens Blues Festival which will be held April 26-28th at Commerce Park with FREE ADMISSION. This event will bring in A LOT of people to the #44 and will include superb music, food, and crafts.

This summer, we will have Bluegrass on Saturdays at Commerce Park from 7:00-9:00 p.m. from May 12th through June 9th. On Fridays from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. starting June 1st and ending August 31st, will be “Dancing on Depot” which will feature a different form of entertainment each week! The City’s Fourth of July Celebration will be held on July 1st.

Back by popular demand, we will hold our Halloween event in downtown Main Street (Fairview to Jones) on October 27th. Despite last years’ rain, turnout and family fun was fantastic and we hope to build on that success and make it even better in 2018.

Lastly, the crown jewel of Fountain Inn’s special events: Christmas! Things will kick off December 6 run through the 22nd. We are still in planning stages, but two things you can definitely count on: carriage rides and Santa.

Our special events draw people from all over the region and we have lots of sponsorship opportunities for your business to get its name out there. Please visit www.fountaininn.org for more details as they become available about our special events and sponsorship opportunities. All dates and times are subject to change.
