Fountain Inn SC – The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra (FISO), resident orchestra of the Younts Center for Performing Arts, will present its third annual Youth Concerts on March 7, it was announced today by FISO conductor, Michael Moore.
The elementary school oriented event features Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Prokofiev’s masterpiece is generally acknowledged to be the prime vehicle for introducing the instruments of the orchestra to budding musicians. Greenville entertainment personality Jeremiah Dew returns as narrator.
“Our goal is to supplement the great music education that is going on in our schools,” said Moore, now in his third year as FISO artistic director and currently the president of the South Carolina Music Educators Association. “Having a live performance of something taught in the classroom is invaluable,” he added. The youth concerts coincide with Music in Our Schools Month, the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.
Peter and the Wolf will be presented three times on Wednesday, March 7: 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, and 12:30 PM. The Younts Center for Performing Arts, located at 315 North Main Street in Fountain Inn.

The next FISO concert is on April 14. “One Voice: Daybreak of Freedom” is a special program marking the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death.♦
