Stanley Major Ward, Jr.
Stanley Major Ward, Jr. (Stan) passed away on Thursday, December 3, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by family members.
Stan was a fixture at Simpsonville Gun and Pawn for the past 16 years. His passion for guns was only exceeded by his love for family. Stan and his wife moved to Simpsonville in 1997 and he made many friends along the way. He will be missed by many.
He was born July 13, 1941 in Anniston Alabama to Stanley and Rose Ward. The family later moved to West Point, Georgia. Stan was a graduate of West Point High School and was a National Merit Scholarship recipient. Stan attended North Georgia Military College and later transferred to Auburn University. He worked many years as project manager for The Austin Company in Atlanta.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Linda, two daughters, Rosalyn Western of Greenville, Paula Gates of Alexandria LA and one sister, Judi Murphy of Fairfax, AL. In addition, Stan leaves behind four step-children, Raymond Pesaturo of Newland, NC, Jeanine Crowder of Hodges SC, Teresa Christensen, of Wilmette, IL and Angela Riese, of Conroe TX. Stan was also the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
