The Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Commerce Park. The Fountain Inn History Museum currently has an art exhibit exploring the history of our small town until December 19th. Hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Go to www.fountaininnmuseum.org for more details.
The City of Fountain Inn Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. – noon until October 24th in Commerce Park.
www.fountaininnevents.com is a great resource for our events and facility rentals. You can also find applications for our Merry Market which will be held on November 7th and 14th from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The annual Chapman Foundation “Pynkalycious” breast cancer awareness walk will be held on Saturday, October 10th at the Younts Center (315 N. Main Street) starting at 9:00 a.m. You can register online for the event at www.chapmanfoundation.com/pynkalycious/ which will include a Pynkalycious mask and t-shirt that can be worn during the 4K walk. The event supports the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Cancer by donating wigs through the Chapman Foundation’s wigged out Wednesday program. The event will also raise funds that will go to the Cancer Society of Greenville which is a local agency that supports cancer patients in Greenville and Pickens counties. This is a great opportunity to bring Fountain Inn and surrounding communities together to make a difference and impact in the fight against breast cancer.
The Fountain Inn Chorale Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Fall and Christmas concerts because of COVID-19. Future concerts will be scheduled as soon as it is safe to do so.
Residents of Laurens County: A Capital Projects Sales Tax referendum will be on the November 3rd ballot for you to vote on. Improvements to Sanctified Hill Park and Exit 22 off I-385 are two of the Fountain Inn – specific projects listed on the referendum. Due to the overwhelming number of children who Trick or Treat on Main Street in Fountain Inn, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has approved the City’s request to close North Main Street from the intersection of North Main & Hellams Street to North Main & Georgia Street at from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st. Re-routed traffic may impact nearby roads.
At the Younts Center for Performing Arts, the John Conlee Show (originally scheduled for March 20th) has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 19th. Tickets are limited due to social distancing. Go to www.yountscenter.org for more information.
The Center for Community Services Food Pantry is running low and needs community assistance to help get the shelves restocked. Their most needed items are currently canned green beans, canned corn, canned carrots, ramen noodles, and soap. Donations can be dropped off at 1102 Howard Drive (Building 2) on Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. and on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Donations can also be made online at www.centercs.com/donate-now.
