Eddie Case posthumously inducted in to Hall of Fame

Local community leader, Edward C. “Eddie” Case received a tremendous honor at the 2019 World Championship Horse Show. The week long show took place in Louisville, Kentucky August 17-24. During the show on August 22nd, Eddie was posthumously inducted to The American Road Horse and Pony Association Hall of Fame. Eddie’s family and friends received the award in his honor.

Eddie was introduced to his love of horses by his father, Charlie Case. His first ride, at age 18 months, was atop his grandfather’s plow horse. But, showing was in his blood from age 6 years when he first showed his Shetland pony, Sonny Boy, at the local Fairview Stock Show. As he matured, Eddie’s love of horses grew to include American Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies, and Road Horses. During the induction ceremony, Eddie was remembered as one who loved putting others in the show ring and teaching them to love to ride and drive. He was also remembered as a gentleman who always brought good sportsmanship, showmanship, friendly competitiveness and good-natured teasing and fun to the show ring. Eddie died unexpectedly on August 5, 2017, doing what he loved. He had just completed showing a road horse in Morristown, Tennessee. Upon exiting the show ring, he suffered a fatal heart attack. Fittingly, at the time of his demise, Eddie was driving a horse named “Grand Fun”.

Locally, many remember Eddie as “Mr. Fountain Inn”. He loved and served his community in numerous roles including City Council for 20 years and as City Administrator for 11 years.

At the time of his death, Eddie was serving the city of Simpsonville as City Administrator. ♦
