Column: Inn the Know… Bell’s Bits

On Thursday 6/17, President Biden signed legislation to make Juneteenth a federal holiday, enshrining June 19 as the national day to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. The law went into effect immediately, making that Friday the first federal observed Juneteenth holiday.

The City has elected to honor the newly established holiday by issuing all eligible employees a flexibly scheduled floating holiday to be used by 12/31/2021 on a day of their choosing. This is due to the last-minute nature of the adopted legislation resulting in zero time to mobilize for regular observance. The City will formally update the Employee Handbook to include JUNETEENTH for regular holiday observance effective 2022. We are pleased to stand by our Commitment to Diversity statement by following suit in recognizing this pivotal moment in history.

We are excited to announce our HR department’s new fiscal year recruitment list of open positions for the City! Our mission for our employees is to inform and empower dedicated team players, supporting and encouraging them to cultivate a sense of community and interactively participate in their professional development and growth. Through our growth comes a brilliant opportunity for making an impact on Fountain Inn residents and visitors alike!
