I have been so fortunate and honored to play in the BEAUFORT Charities Tournament for 37 years. For a good number of those years I have had the privilege of playing in the tournament with my three sons, Bobby, Benji, and Brian Gecy. We have not always played on the same team as partners, but we always have a great weekend of golf fun together and with our families. All of our Gecy Guys have had the great distinction of winning this tournament! I won the tournament with my partner, Jim Degisio, in 2012. Brian won with partner Matt O’Quinn in 2015 and got a hole in one on #15 for $10,000 in 2018! Robert and Benji have had the honor and pleasure of winning this Tournament for the 6th time this year 2021.

We have a wonderful legacy at the Beaufort Charities. This year we had the privilege of adding a new Gecy to our golf team! Robert Gregory Gecy lll turned 21 in April making him eligible to play in the tournament for the first time. Now we have three generation of Gecys playing… Robert Gregory Gecy (Bob), Robert Gregory Gecy, Jr. (Robert/Bobby) and Robert Gregory Gecy lll (Bobby). It’s exciting and a great pleasure to share this time as a family. How lucky we are to have this time to share our love of golf and time together.■
