Bell’s Bits – I hope everyone had a very nice Valentine’s Day. Congratulations to the Hillcrest High School wrestling 2019 State Champions! Both the cities of Fountain Inn and Simpsonville are extremely proud of you.

If you are interested in learning more about Heirs, Wills, & Property, come out the Fountain Inn Activities Center on Thursday, February 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a free workshop. A light lunch will be provided.

The City’s Special Events Department kicks off the 2019 season with our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Enjoy music, beverages, food, kids entertainment, face paint, and a cornhole tournament on March 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Commerce Park located at 110 Depot Street. Mark your calendars for our second annual 44 City Serve day on April 6 and the 13th annual Mac Arnold Cornbread & Collard Greens Blues Festival from April 25-27.

The next Coffee with Council will be held on March 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nirvana Cultural Center located on 30 Howard Creek Drive in Fountain Inn. Sponsored by the Chapman Foundation, Inc., this is an opportunity for you to have an informal conversation on various topics concerning the City with City Council members.

I will be holding mobile office hours for another #AdminOnTheGo on March 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bobby’s BBQ located at 1301 North Main Street. Stop by to ask questions and get some delicious BBQ from one of Fountain Inn’s newest restaurants.

We will be opening construction bids for the Woodside Park revitalization project on March 21 with Council set to award the construction contract at our April City Council meeting. Exciting times for Fountain Inn!

There are many good shows coming soon to the Younts Center for Performing Arts. Annie Jr. will be performed February 21-23; The Hunchback of Notre Dame from March 22 – April 6; Jane Eyre from April 11-13; and The Isaacs, a multi-award winning family group, will grace the stage on April 28. Do you live near the boundary line of Greenville and Laurens Counties? The South Carolina Geodetic Survey will be holding a public meeting regarding a boundary survey between the two counties on March 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Leadership Golden Strip’s community project of installing a splash pad on Main Street in downtown Fountain Inn will have a groundbreaking ceremony on March 21. Donations to the project are being accepted until the end of February. You can donate by going to http://www.gofundme.com/lgssplashpadproject.
