Remembering a Friend – Charles Lockaby

I hadn’t known Charlie Lockaby very long, but I am so honored to have met him. I remember the first time that we met, he was by Sylvia’s side and of course she introduced him to me. I remember how meek and quiet he was and how he sat at the table at all of my “game planning” sessions that we had during my campaign. He was quiet and never spoke up unless he was asked something. However, when we asked his opinion he gave it and it was always good advice. My heart sank as I heard of the news that he went on to his new home in glory last week. This world certainly lost one of the truly last remaining good guys. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians to be “absent in the body is to be present with the Lord”. No more pain, no more sorrow or no more death for Charlie. Charlie was a beloved husband to his loving wife Sylvia. He was a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a soldier and hopefully he considered me his friend. God speed Charlie until we meet again.
