A tribute to Miriam & Colvin Moore

A tribute to Miriam “Midge” Colvin Moore

If you knew Midge Moore and she was your friend, you had a true and devoted friend.

I have known Midge for many years and have found her to always be epitome of a true southern lady. She was dedicated to her family and to her church, First Baptist Church, Simpsonville South Carolina. She served in many responsible capacities there, and was an active member of several other organizations.

Midge spent several years in the field of education, having been a classroom teacher and later a school counselor. She was dedicated to making a positive impact upon the students with whom she came in contact. Several have commented that she was an excellent teacher and very strict. Midge was active in school related organizations as a member of the Greenville County Association of classroom teachers and Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher’s sorority. For many years she also enjoyed membership in the Simpsonville Garden Club and was a member of the Simpsonville Historical Society. Midge was generous in sharing their beach places with many friends. Everyone always had a great vacation when they joined her at Hilton head, South Carolina, or at Cherry Grove, South Carolina. She had many hobbies. Among them were reading, gardening, attending USC football games, shopping, just to mention a few. Also she and her family traveled extensively.

Through the years Midge belonged to several bridge clubs. One club had members who had played together for over 50 years! Jackie Greene, Betty Richardson, and Midge were among the last remaining ones. Others are deceased or are in assisted living facilities.

To a true friend who will be greatly missed by family, former students and colleagues among a wide circle of friends
